Our Lesser Spot nest inspection cameras and telescopic poles are all ready to go. We just need some more nests to inspect!

We have been over to Dorset to collect our nest cameras from Wildlife Windows. They have been refurbished and are ready for action.

BrianCresswell nest cameras webOur crevice cameras were designed for us by Brian Cresswell at Wildlife Windows and used for the first time last year. Brian (pictured right) has kindly refurbished them for us over the winter. Each camera can be mounted on a telescopic pole and has a wireless link to an i-pad or tablet, so we can look into the nest hole whilst standing at the base of the tree.

So together with our own 'home-made' set up, we have three camera systems ready to be deployed as soon as anyone has Lesser Spot nest to inspect.

Please let us know of any active nests and we will come to look inside. It only takes a few minutes and causes minimal disturbance to the birds. For full details see our Lesser Spotted Woodpecker page

Don't confuse juvenile Great Spotted Woodpeckers with male Lesser Spots - they both have red caps!
